State and local leaders in Missouri honored Senator Roy Blunt, HBS Leadership Strategies Chairman, recently as they broke ground on the new Roy Blunt Center of Healthcare Integration & Innovation. The building will be the new home to the Missouri Primary Care Association and the Missouri Behavioral Health Council. The first of its kind in the country, the new center will bring together two like-minded associations serving underserved populations across the state of Missouri. The new 50,000-square-foot non-clinical facility will include a state-of-the-art auditorium and training center and provide additional space for state agency partners to expand their services.
Senator Blunt served as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, where he prioritized federal funding and resources while also raising awareness on critical issues including increased investment in medical research and mental health treatment. His leadership was instrumental in Congress passing the Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Act which was signed into law in 2014. The nationwide expansion of that act was a major part of the public safety bill that Congress passed into 2022, Senator Blunt’s last year in the Senate.
