Senator Roy Blunt Receives Legacy of Leadership Award from Truman Library

The Truman Library Institute honored Senator Roy Blunt recently with its Legacy of Leadership Award, recognizing the Senator’s “lifetime commitment of service to our nation and its democratic ideals.” With its award, the library noted Senator Blunt has demonstrated “courage, wisdom, foresight, humility, and a willingness to be accountable for the difficult actions and decisions of a true leader.”

Senator Blunt received the award at the library’s the 25th annual benefit, Wild About Harry, and with nearly 800 in attendance raised a record breaking $1million for its Classroom for Democracy program.

Alex Burden, executive director of the Truman Library Institute, said, “Like Truman, Senator Blunt’s service to his community and country has always been grounded in a deep understanding of history and a commitment to bipartisanship. He is a champion of education and has been a tremendous supporter of the civics-education mission at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum.”

Senator Blunt serves as Chairman of HBS Leadership Strategies Advisory Services. With more than four decades of public service, Senator Blunt has advised Presidents and represented the United States government in key regions of the world with foreign leaders. Throughout his career, Senator Blunt has developed long-lasting, bipartisan partnerships that have led to major legislative achievements for the country in health care, infrastructure, trade, and national security.
